Philadelphia Union forward Jack McInerney has been voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Month by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for the month of April, the League announced today.  Tied for the League lead in goals scored and game-winning goals, McInerney netted four goals in four matches during the month of April, including a two goal performance in the Union’s 3-2 win over D.C. United on April 21.
Voted the MLS Week 8 Player of the Week after his brace against the Black and Red, McInerney also netted goals in ties against the Columbus Crew (April 6) and Toronto FC (April 13).  In total, the 20-year-old has scored six goals, including three game-winners, thus far this season.  This is his first career MLS Player of the Month honor.
The MLS Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information and membership information can be found at www.soccerreporters.com.
The Union (3-3-2, 11 points) return to action this Saturday when they host the Seattle Sounders at PPL Park at 4 p.m. on 6abc.
