After making his way through the Union ladder, forward Markus Anderson has been selected as the Independence Blue Cross Player of June for his contributions throughout the month.
The 21-year-old started off the month with Union II where he scored his first goal in MLS NEXT Pro against FC Cincinnati 2. Four days later Anderson was with the first team as they battled Liga MX side Atlas FC in an international friendly where he impressed with a second half strike.
The momentum continued to build for Anderson as he made his first MLS appearance in nearly a year and quickly repaid the club with a dramatic 98th-minute game-winning goal against Charlotte FC for his third goal in 11 days.
With the Union missing numerous pieces due to the international window, Concacaf Gold Cup and injuries, Anderson has played crucial minutes which included getting his first MLS start last weekend against the Columbus Crew.
