Philadelphia Union Acquire Up To $4,600,000 From D.C. United

CHESTER, Pa. (December 17, 2025) – Philadelphia Union announced today that they have acquired a guaranteed $4,000,000 from D.C. United in exchange for forward Tai Baribo. The Union may acquire up to an additional $600,000 if certain performances metrics are met.

“We want to thank Tai for his contributions to the club. Tai is a true professional and gave everything he had during his time here," said Philadelphia Union Head Coach Bradley Carnell. "At this time, we believe this move is in the best interest of both the club and player. This provides financial opportunities to continue to invest in the team this offseason while providing space for emerging talent on our roster. It also allows Tai to continue the next phase in his career. We wish him and his family all the best in the next chapter of his career.”

Baribo, 27, first joined the Philadelphia Union in 2023 and made 67 appearances across all competitions, playing a total of 4,410 minutes and scoring 35 goals. Baribo had a breakout season in 2024, scoring 17 goals, which continued into 2025, scoring a total of 20 goals. Baribo was named to the 2025 MLS All-Star roster where he earned MLS All-Star MVP after scoring the game winning goal against LIGA MX All-Stars.  

Internationally, Baribo has featured for the Israeli National team, earning 23 caps. In those 23 appearances, Baribo has scored four goals.

TRANSACTION: Philadelphia Union acquire a guaranteed $4,000,000 from D.C. United in exchange for forward Tai Baribo. The club may acquire an additional $600,000 if certain performances metrics are met.
