Cavan Sullivan earns No. 1 ranking; Neil Pierre and Frankie Westfield rank No. 7 and No. 11, respectively
Philadelphia Union Homegrowns Cavan Sullivan, Neil Pierre, and Frankie Westfield have been named to Major League Soccer's 2026 22 Under 22 list, recognizing the league's top young players. This year's list marks the ninth consecutive season the Union have been represented.
The Union's three selections are tied with Red Bull New York for the most of any club.
Earlier this fall, all three earned their first senior U.S. Men's National Team call-ups and appearances, with Sullivan making history on Oct. 3 as the youngest goalscorer in USMNT history.
Sullivan earned the number one overall ranking, while Pierre came in at number seven and Westfield at number 11, placing three Philadelphia Union Academy products among the league's premier young talents.
Sullivan becomes the second Union player to earn the top spot, joining Brenden Aaronson, who ranked number one in 2020. The recognition comes during a breakout season for the Homegrown midfielder, who is tied for second in MLS with 14 assists. His 21 goal contributions set a new single-season MLS record for a teenager, surpassing a mark that stood for 13 years.
Pierre earns the recognition following a breakout campaign since rejoining the club during the World Cup break. The Homegrown center back became the first defender in MLS history to score four goals within his first eight career regular-season appearances.
Westfield's rise from number 18 last year to number 11 this season follows his emergence as a two-way presence for Philadelphia. The Homegrown defender leads all MLS defenders with 11 assists and became just the third Homegrown in Union history to record double-digit assists in a single MLS regular season, joining Quinn Sullivan (2024) and Cavan Sullivan (2026).
The trio's recognition further highlights the impact of the Philadelphia Union Academy and the club's commitment to developing players through its pathway from the Academy to Union II and ultimately the First Team.
