After securing the top seed in the Eastern Conference with a 4-0 victory over Toronto FC on Decision Day, the Philadelphia Union will host the Eastern Conference Semifinal at Subaru Park on Thursday, October 20th. Kick off from Subaru Park is set for 8 p.m. ET with the match broadcast nationally on FS1 and Fox Deportes.
The Union are the No. 1 seed after a 2022 season that saw the club finish 19-5-10 in the regular season to claim a home field advantage in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. The Union will play host to the winner of the First Round contest between the No. 4 seeded New York Red Bulls and No. 5 FC Cincinnati that will take place at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, October 15th at 12 p.m. ET.
New York Red Bulls are in the postseason for the 13th consecutive season after finishing 15-11-8 in the regular season led by an impressive 9-5-3 record on the road. The Union and their biggest rivals squared off twice in the regular season with the Union going unbeaten in the series. After battling to a scoreless draw at Subaru Park in May, the Union went to New Jersey and nabbed a 2-0 win behind goals from Mikael Uhre and Daniel Gazdag.
FC Cincinnati after they finished 12-9-13 this season. The two sides battled twice in the 2022 regular season with the first matchup seeing a 1-1 result at Subaru Park in June. In August the Ohio side picked up their first-ever win against the Union via a 3-1 result. Cincinnati is coached by former Union assistant coach Pat Noonan.
