Philadelphia Union will begin their 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup game on Tuesday, May 28 as the club will face the winner of a matchup between the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USL PRO) or the Ocean City Nor’easters (PDL) in the third round of play.
If the Pittsburgh Riverhounds win the second round matchup next Tuesday, May 21, Philadelphia Union will travel to Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pa. to face the Riverhounds for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff. With an Ocean City Nor’easters victory, Philadelphia Union will host the PDL side at PPL Park for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
The Union went 3-1 overall in Open Cup matches last year, advancing all the way to the semifinal match, where they fell 2-0 to the eventual champions, Sporting KC. The winner of this match will advance to the fourth round, played on June 12.
Ticket information for a potential home game at PPL Park on May 28 will be available following Tuesday night’s contest between the Riverhounds and Nor’easters.
The Philadelphia Union are in action at PPL Saturday as they face the Chicago Fire (7:30 p.m., purchase tickets).
