Philadelphia Union Statement on COVID-19

Statement_COVID

As always, the Philadelphia Union’s main priority is the safety and wellbeing of our players, coaches, staff, and fans.  Saturday’s home opener against San Jose Earthquakes will take place as scheduled.  Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm at Subaru Park.

Our medical staff is monitoring the situation closely and working in partnership with Major League Soccer, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and regional health authorities.  We are in close communication with other sports organizations in the city, who are also monitoring the situation closely. If any necessary changes are needed, we will let our fans know as soon as possible and provide all the required information.

The following expanded sanitation measures will be in place in the days leading up to and on game day:

  • Increased staff and enhanced cleaning treatments to disinfect all areas of the stadium before and after the game.
  • High touchpoint areas (railings, concession areas, restrooms, etc.) will be sanitized regularly before, during and after the game.
  • Hand sanitizer stations throughout the venue.
  • Additional staff education and training.
  • All stadium staff and event employees will wear gloves. This includes concessions, security, gate attendants.
  • Increased hand washing signage in each restroom.

In effort to keep yourself and fellow fans healthy, please be sure to adhere to everyday preventative actions advised by the CDC:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

As an added measure of safety, we are advising that at-risk members of the community, those individuals who have traveled outside of the country within the last two weeks, and any individual who is currently sick refrain from attending Saturday's match. This is being done out of an abundance of caution. Affected parties should contact the Philadelphia Union’s fan services department with any questions.
