Philadelphia Union announced that the club will host USL Championship side Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 on Wednesday, May 21st, at 7:30 ET.
The Hounds come to Philly after defeating Major League Soccer side New York City FC 1-0 on Wednesday night in Pittsburgh. After 95 scoreless minutes, Beto Ydrach secured a last chance game winner, scoring a header off a corner to send his team to the next round of the tournament.
The Union are participating in their 13th Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup where the club has amassed a record of 19-8-4 in the Open Cup. The Union has a storied history in the prestigious tournament, having reached the Open Cup Finals in 2014, 2015, and 2018.
