The Philadelphia Union bring their seven-match unbeaten streak home this weekend for Kick Childhood Cancer night at Subaru Park, hosting CF Montreal.

The Boys in Blue extended their unbeaten streak with a result over the team it began against, defeating Red Bull New York 3-1 once again, this time away from home at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
On a night where teenage talent was expected to be in the spotlight with both teams boasting up-and-coming young stars, Neil Pierre and Cavan Sullivan delivered for the Union, each hitting the back of the net in the second half after Milan Iloski opened scoring.
With the pair of goals, the Homegrown duo now has 10 goal contributions between the two of them since the conclusion of the World Cup break. Pierre is the first center back in MLS history to score in four of his first eight career appearances, while Sullivan became a step closer to becoming the youngest player, and first teenager, to record a five-game goal contribution streak. With another goal or an assist against Montreal, at just 16-years-old that honor would be his.
While the Homegrowns have captured the spotlight, there’s no shortage of players that across Philadelphia Union’s roster that have contributed the team’s recent turnaround, including 26-year-old Haitian defensive midfielder Danley Jean Jacques, who assisted Sullivan’s latest goal,and has tallied 19 interceptions since the the World Cup break – the most of any player in all of MLS.

This weekend’s match is an important one as it opens a strenuous month of September featuring five MLS matches – after CF Montreal, the Union host a midweek matchup against 6th place FC Cincinnati, travel across the country twice to face San Diego FC and Sporting Kansas City, then back at home against Orlando City and French superstar Antione Griezmann.Â
Philly currently sits one point below the playoff line, while Montreal is near the bottom in 14th with 21 points. The bottom of the East is congested, but favorably for the Union, they’ll enter this one with fresher legs as the side from Quebec played a Canadian Championship match against Vancouver Whitecaps away at BC Place on Wednesday, finishing with a 1-1 result.
Players to watchÂ
- The top scorer to watch for CF Montreal is Prince Owusu, who’s scored 13 of the teams 30 MLS goals this season. In his second season with Montreal, the 29-year-old German forward also has five assists.
- 23-year-old Venezuelan midfielder Wikelman Carmona has contributed four goals and four assists since moving from New York Red Bulls to Montréal in February.
