On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Union signed another addition to the group, announcing AgustÃn Anello as the team's newest attacking piece. Upon his arrival in Clearwater, he sat down for a Q&A -- get to know the team's 23-year-old winger!
How did this signing with the Philadelphia Union come to be?
Well, it came up on the desk a few weeks ago, and I loved the idea coming back to play for the first time in my country. So yeah, that was a green light from everybody, and it's awesome to be here.
What did you know about the Philadelphia Union before you knew it was an option to come play here?
Well, incredibly, I followed you guys because I played with Bruno Damiani, so obviously I would see his stories, I would see you guys were doing good. So unconsciously, I followed you guys throughout the whole year of last year, so that was cool when it came up that I could come here
What are you most excited about for this new opportunity to play in the United States and playing with somebody that you already have a good relationship with?
To be honest, I love it. I heard in Philly there's a very passionate fan base, so coming from South America, that's an important thing. I love it as well. I just can't wait to be there and see the stadium and the fans and everything.
You've been here for a couple of days now -- what has been your first impression of the guys you'll be playing with this year?
You can see the intensity Bradley Carnell tries to put behind it. So I think there's one idea, one figure, one way we want to play. I think it was very successful last year, and I think that's going to be the same thing coming this year.
Bradley always has conversations with new players before they come in -- what were your first interactions with him like, and how did that help you decide that this was the right choice for you?
I have actually been talking to him for a couple weeks back before coming here. And yeah, he talked about the things we love, the things we have in common, passion. That was one of the green lights for coming here also. So, you can really see it from when we spoke before, but now on paper, as well as in the trainings.
Can you describe what you're going to bring to the field and who you are as a player?
I consider myself a player that likes to attack the space, create chances, obviously finish up topm and I think of myself that as a team player. I'll do whatever the team needs to get that victory.
I hope I bring all the things the team needs. I hope I can adapt quick to the to the main idea, and just bring the rhythm, the passion, and the fire that I think this team already has.
What's one thing Philadelphia Union fans should know about you?
Well, I'm very excited to meet them. Can't wait to put the new jersey on and start playing games.
