Sports Illustrated: Aaronson ready for upcoming challenges

Before he departs for FC Red Bull Salzburg on January 1, midfielder Brenden Aaronson is looking to validate his 2020 campaign with a strong showing for the United States Men's National Team as they face off against El Salvador on Wednesday night.

Aaronson spoke with Sports Illustrated's Brian Straus talking about the upcoming challenges that await the 20-year-old from trying to break into Gregg Berhalter's USMNT core, making the 2021 Olympic roster for Head Coach Jason Kreis and hopefully playing in the Champions League with his European club.

"I find a way of appreciating that because he wants what’s best for me. … I’m not going to take it the wrong way. I want to, like he said, validate my part in the team and do whatever I can,” Aaronson told Sports Illustrated. “He’s a coach that wants to push me and I think that’s what coaches do. When he sees a good player, I think that’s what you do as a coach—you want to try and push them to be at their best ability. And I think that for me, I think that’s what I'm going to try to do going into the game."
