Three Philadelphia Union Homegrowns, Quinn Sullivan, Jack McGlynn, and Brandan Craig have been called in to the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team for the upcoming 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.

The trio will be competing in Group B, where they'll face off against international opponents from Ecuador (May 20), Fiji (May 23), and Slovakia (May 26). The FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina starts on Saturday, May 20, and runs through to Sunday, June 11. All three players were released by the Philadelphia Union. Sullivan and Craig are currently with the team while McGlynn and US Soccer reached an agreement for him to join the team following the Union’s match on May 13 in Colorado,

“It is an honor for both our players and club that three of our Homegrown players have made the roster for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup,” said Philadelphia Union Sporting Director, Ernst Tanner. “Having three homegrown products play on the world stage is a testament to our dedication and investment into developing youth talent.”

On July 3, 2022, the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team won their third straight CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Honduras when they routed Dominican Republic’s Under-20 Men’s National Team 6-0 in the final at Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano. On the road to the final, Sullivan netted six goals, one goal behind former teammate and Golden Boot winner Paxten Aaronson. McGlynn also added two goals, his first goal coming against Canada’s Under-20 National Team, a long-range goal from 20 yards out to even the scoreline in the 53rd minute to help the team remain undefeated in the CONCACAF U-20 Championship, and his second goal in the final against Dominican Republic. In total, Union players scored 15 of the team’s 31 goals. Their dominant performance helped the team qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup and secured a berth for the U.S Men’s National Team in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris for the first time since 2008.

Most recently, McGlynn, Craig, and Sullivan were called up to the U-20 training camp in Marbella, Spain from March 19-28, where they faced off against France U-21 (Mar. 22), England U-21 (Mar. 25), and Serbia U-21 (Mar. 28). McGlynn has made 17 appearances for the U-20 National Team, scoring two goals in that time. Sullivan appeared 16 times for the U-20’s, scoring 10 goals in that time. Craig has made 11 appearances, scoring a free-kick goal against Peru U-20 on September 21, 2022. The U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Teams’ best finish in this tournament came in 1989, when they reached the Semifinals before ultimately finishing in fourth place.
