Philadelphia Union will travel to Reading, Pa. next week to face their PDL affiliate partner, Reading United A.C., in an annual exhibition match Wednesday, June 18 at Wilson High School’s John Gurski Stadium. The game, which kicks off at 7:00 p.m. ET, will mark the fifth time the clubs have played each other since they became partners in 2009.
Additionally, the Philadelphia Union Mobile Marketing Tour team on hand, with gates opening at 6 p.m. ET.
Tickets are available in advance for just $15 at www.readingunitedac.com. On game day, tickets at the Gurski Stadium box office will be $20.
Reading United and Philadelphia Union inked a player development agreement in 2009 that made Reading the exclusive PDL Player Development Partner of the Philadelphia Union. In turn, the Union have benefitted from this partnership, as a quartet of Union players are Reading United alum: forward Aaron Wheeler (2009), defender Ray Gaddis (2010-2011), midfielder Leo Fernandes (2012) and forward Andrew Wenger (2010), who have collectively combined for 50 appearances this year for the Union, including 39 starts. Additionally, Union Interim Team Manager Jim Curtin has a tie to Reading, as he was previously the Reading Super 20 Men’s coach.
