Union Sign Steel FC Midfielder Michee Ngalina to Short-Term Agreement

Philadelphia Union announced today that they have signed Bethlehem Steel FC midfielder Michee Ngalina (pronounced: ME-chee Gah-LEAN-ah) to a Short-Term Agreement. The deal permits Ngalina to be available for selection by the Union for tonight's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Fourth Round match against the Richmond Kickers. The match kicks off from Talen Energy Stadium at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Ngalina, 18, has appeared in seven Steel FC matches this season (five starts), scoring two goals, both game-winners: vs. New York Red Bulls II on May 16 and at North Carolina FC on June 2. He originally joined Bethlehem on April 25 of this year via the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Previously, he earned a call up with the U-17 National Team, competing in the 2016 Central African Football Federations’ Union (UNIFAC), where he was the leading scorer for the Leopards.

Per the Major League Soccer roster rules and regulations, a club may sign players from their USL affiliate to Short-Term Agreements (up to four-day contracts) for CONCACAF Champions League, Canadian Championship, Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and exhibition matches. A club may sign a player to a maximum of four Short-Term Agreements each season (maximum of 16 days).
