Philadelphia Union knows its opponent for the Audi 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Semifinal as the club will host FC Cincinnati on Thursday, October 20th. Kick from Subaru Park is set for 8 p.m. ET with the contest broadcast on FS1 and Fox Deportes.
The Union are the No. 1 seed after a 2022 season that saw the club finish 19-5-10 in the regular season to claim a home field advantage in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. The Boys in Blue were led by the high scoring trio of Daniel Gazdag, Julian Carranza and Mikael Uhre who combined for 49 goals scored while the other side of the pitch saw the best defense in a 34-game regular season as the Union racked up 15 clean sheets and only 26 goals allowed.
FC Cincinnati comes to Subaru Park after a 2-1 road comeback against No. 4 New York Red Bulls. After falling behind in their first MLS Cup Playoffs contest via a long-range golazo, the Ohio side battled back and drew things even in the 74th minute with a penalty kick finish from Luciano Acosta. With momentum on their side, former Union forward Sergio Santos whipped in a cross to Brandon Vazquez for the tap in finish to complete the comeback 86th minute.
FC Cincinnati finished the regular season 12-9-13 this season to grab the No. 5 seed in the East. The Union and Cincinnati sides battled twice in the 2022 regular season with the first matchup seeing a 1-1 result at Subaru Park in June. In August the Ohio side picked up their first-ever win against the Union via a 3-1 result. Cincinnati is coached by former Union assistant coach Pat Noonan.
