Goal of the Month

VOTE | BIMBO Goal of March

It's a battle of two big goals battling it out for March's BIMBO Goal of the Month! Voting for the accolade is now live and will last for just 24 hours.

The first nominee comes from forward Mikael Uhre who had a dominate match north of the border against CF Montreal on March 18th. After nabbing the tying goal just seconds into the second half, Uhre put the Union ahead with a breakaway finish set up by Daniel Gazdag. In the 60th minute, Uhre put the Union in front with a goal that will appear in the How To Play Union Soccer textbook one day. Mbaizo’s half-clearance fell to Montrela at the top of the box but the Union moved their lines forward quickly and Bedoya nudged an aerial ball past his defender to start an attack. Martinez was at the top of the defensive thrid when he found Gazdag in the middle in space to turn. The 2022 MVP finalist snub is simply too good to be alone in that much space. He hesitated to show Uhre when to break his run forward then lofted the ball over the back line for the big Dane to sprint on and finish with newfound confidence.

The other nominated goal comes from Union newcomer Joaquin Torres who gave another memorable moment for the Union faithful against the Chicago Fire on March 11th. With the game scoreless and stoppage time about to be shown, Torres collected a pass from Jose Martinez then juked toward the center and shimmied until he found a sliver of space. Torres uncorked a low knuckling drive through traffic that Chris Brady fumbled into his own net.Subaru Park shook as the The River End went wild.

Voting is now open and will take place for only 24 hours on our Instagram so don't wait to cast your vote today!
