WSFS Bank Sportsplex brings new sports to Chester

This season has been packed with excitement as the new WSFS Bank Sportsplex comes alive with action! From soccer and field hockey to Chester High School Football, there’s been something for every sports fan. Learn more about why the WSFS Bank Sportsplex is the place to play your favorite sport!

Chester High School Football

From the very beginning, the vision for the WSFS Bank Sportsplex was driven by a commitment to community impact. That commitment has been honored through a new partnership with the Chester High School Football team and WSFS Bank Sportsplex.

Through WSFS Bank’s donated hours towards community usage, Chester High School Football have been utilizing the facilities at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex at no cost throughout the year. This has provided the local team with a climate-controlled, indoor facility for practices, which has eliminated weather disruptions and delays to their training regime. Players and coaches from Chester High School have also praised the level of security and safety they feel whilst training in the WSFS Bank Sportsplex Fieldhouse on IBX Field.

Not only has this unique partnership provided safe spaces for young athletes to train in, but it has also opened future opportunities in their athletic careers. On May 14th, Chester High School Football hosted their first ever college showcase at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex Fieldhouse on IBX Field. This event brought a variety of collegiate coaches from DI, DII, and DIII colleges to Chester to evaluate the high school players. Several players were offered scholarships on the day and even had the opportunity to be interviewed by NBC10 to speak about their experience and the impact that the WSFS Bank Sportsplex has had on their athletic journey thus far. The WSFS Bank Sportsplex looks forward to offering a safe space and more opportunities to our community to utilize our facilities.

Mother’s Day Classic

The Mother’s Day Classic marked the first-ever girls-exclusive soccer tournament in Philadelphia Union history. Several girls’ teams from across the region took to the turf at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex to compete for bragging rights in the inaugural event. Four-hundred players from across our region participated in the event and took in the new surroundings of the WSFS Bank Sportsplex over the course of the day.

This year’s tournament was one of many new soccer competitions held at the facility since its opening in 2023. As the training home of the Philadelphia Union, the WSFS Bank Sportsplex is proud to serve as the premier destination for youth soccer tournaments in the region. Teams, players, and coaches have been particularly impressed with the pristine playing surfaces and the flexibility of the one-day tournament format.

Stay tuned for more soccer events kicking off in the shadow of Subaru Park in the coming months, including the Commodore Cup on August 23.

Spring Shootout, May Mania, and May Madness

Spring was all about field hockey at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex, as three new tournaments took center stage throughout April and May. Spring Shootout, May Mania, and May Madness drew 173 teams and 1,495 players from across the region to the Philadelphia Union’s campus.

The introduction of field hockey events is part of a broader initiative to position the WSFS Bank Sportsplex as a premier destination for multi-sport events, tournaments, camps, and clinics. Under the “Union Sports” brand, our facility aims to provide a wide range of youth and adult sports experiences to Union fans and the broader community.

Throughout each tournament, teams enjoyed high-quality, competitive games and our professional-grade facilities. The WSFS Bank Sportsplex is excited to provide more sporting opportunities for our communities and looks forward to welcoming teams back for more field hockey events in 2026!
