2012-13 (Stoke City/Bursaspor): Edu joined Premier League side Stoke City prior to the 2012 season, debuting on October 7, 2012 against Liverpool. He was loaned out to Turkish side Bursaspor midway through the season, and he played 11 matches for the club in addition to two Turkish Cup contests.
2011-12 (Rangers): Edu played 36 league matches in 2011-12 with three goals and six assists. He also featured regularly for Rangers in UEFA Champions League qualification, the Europa League and the Scottish Cup.
2010-11 (Rangers): Winning his third consecutive Scottish Premier League title, Edu played in 33 contests throughout the season, scoring two goals and assisting on two others. He made four UEFA Champions League appearances, including a group stage match against Manchester United, and also played in the Europa League, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup, which Rangers won with Edu playing 120 minutes in the final over Celtic.
2009-10 (Rangers): Edu made 15 Scottish Premiership appearances, scoring twice and assisting twice as he won his second consecutive Scottish league title. He also helped Rangers win the Scottish League Cup, playing 45 minutes in the final, a 1 -0 win over St. Mirren FC.
2008-09 (Rangers): Transferring to Scotland to join Rangers, Edu made 12 Scottish Premiership appearances, missing time with a knee injury as Rangers won the league title. He won the Scottish Cup with Rangers that season after the team beat Falkirk FC in the final.
2008 (Toronto FC): Edu played in 13 games for Toronto during his second professional season, scoring one goal. He also made three Canadian Championship appearances, scoring one goal in that competition.
2007 (Toronto FC): Edu was selected first overall in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC. He made 25 appearances during his rookie season, scoring four goals. His debut came on April 25, 2007 against the Kansas City Wizards and his first goal occurred on May 12, 2007 against Chicago. He won the MLS Rookie of the Year award for his efforts.
Edu has appeared in 46 games for the United States National Team. He was included in the 2008 Summer Olympics and played three games as centerback. He also appeared at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and was on the provisional roster for the 2014 World Cup.
Edu was a Hermann Trophy semifinalist in 2006, as well as a first team NSCAA All-American. In 2005, he was All-ACC second team selection as a sophomore at Maryland and played a major role in the success of Maryland's NCAA College Cup National Championship.
