Career Summary

The Union selected Taylor Washington with the No. 23 overall selection in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft on Jan. 14, 2016. Washington attended George Mason University and in 2015 was named to NSCAA Third Team All-Midwest region. During his three seasons at George Mason, Washington started in 52 games and scored one goal and gave two assists. In 2013, Washington was named to Frist Team All-Atlantic 10 Conference.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2016 (Union): Washington has featured in one match for the Phialdelphia Union this season. It was a friendly match against the EPL’s Crystal Palace.

2016 (Steel FC): Washington has been loaned out to Steel FC for 18 games of their 20 games this season. He has performed very well on the backline, having featured in seven shutouts this season.

COLLEGE EXPERIENCE

2015 (George Mason): Washington was named to the NSCAA All-Midwest Third Team. The left back started 11 games in 2015, playing 984 minutes. 

2014 (George Mason): Played and started all 20 contests for the Patriots. He punched in the game-winning goal against then-No. 13 Saint Louis for his lone goal of the season. Also added an assist against Dayton for a total of three points.

2013 (George Mason): Started all 21 matches and recorded two assists on the season. He assisted on goal in a 1-1 draw against La Salle on Oct. 27 and in 3-2 win over VCU in A-10 semifinals. Also recorded season-high two shots against UMass on Oct. 13 and St. Joseph's on Oct. 25. Washington was named to Atlantic-10 All-Conference First Team and VaSID All-State second team. Also was an ECAC Second Team All-Star. Led defense that allowed 16 goals in 21 games and a conference-leading 0.71 goals-against-average.
