Reading United headed back to USL League Two Finals in thrilling fashion

WAO: Reading

It was another case of deja vu but the same result as Philadelphia Union's USL League Two affiliate Reading United battled 120 minutes to advance to the USL League Two Final for the second straight year with a thrilling win over South Georgia Tormenta FC 2.

After conceding twice in three minutes during a tough first half, Reading United made key adjustments in the final half to get back into the contest. The breakthrough came in super-sub Yaya Fane in the 70th minute to trim the deficit to 2-1. With time running down, another substitute Bokary Bagayojo fought through the home side's backline to tie things in the 84th minute.

As both teams battled fatigue and cool temperatures, Reading made one of their final attacks count as they drew a penalty kick right at the end of overtime. With the whole stadium rooting for a miss or save, Felipe Hideki snuck his penalty just under the keeper to give Reading the 3-2 victory and second-straight USL League Two Conference Championship.

Reading United will now travel to Flint, Michigan to take on the Flint City Bucks in the USL League Two Final next Saturday.
