Throwback Thursday: The first showdown with D.C. United

April 10, 2010. It's a day all Union fans hold near and dear to their heart. For the first time, the Union marched out onto the pitch in front of screaming fans, and were able to play in their city for the first time.

With Talen Energy Stadium (formerly PPL Park) still being built, the Union hosted DC United at Lincoln Financial Field, where 34,870 fans came out to see the Union's first home game in history. Sebastian Le Toux didn't make the fans wait long, as he scored the first home goal in Philadelphia history just four minutes into the match. He added another goal in the 40th minute to give the Union a 2-0 halftime lead.

DC came out of the break and scored a pair of goals, to draw even with the Union at two by the 70th minute. But Le Toux played hero once again, finding the back of the net in the 80th minute, scoring the game winning goal and notching the Union's first hat trick in franchise history. The Union faithful went home happy, as the home opener was also the first win in franchise history.
