The knockout rounds of FIFAdelphia Series 2 presented by Subaru kicked off Friday night. Here is how the knockout matches played out on XBox One.
Kicking off the knockout rounds saw top seeded FRIENDBEN10 control all aspects of the match en route to a 4-0 victory over eighth-seeded WhoAreYa215.
In a surprisingly close game #2 BrickSquaaadPOW faced off against #7 KevSmevv from the Xbox Casual league. KevSmevv took a shock lead in the first half, but BrickSquaaadPOW showed the skill he had displayed previous coming back into the game 2-1. Kev_Smevv continued to add pressure onto the 2nd seed forcing him down to the wire ultimately succumbing 3-2, with BrickSquaaadPOW advancing to the next round.
Third seeded MrOxyClean03, who dominated in the Xbox Expert Gold league with an impressive undefeated, faced a tight affair with returning FIFAdelphia player Tucansam25. This match was proved to be an exciting back and forth display with MrOxyClean03 continuing his unbeaten run, winning the match 3-2.
The final quarterfinal match between two Xbox Expert Gold rivals #4 Familyjulezzz who finished ahead of #5 SorryMsJackson2, in the head to head tiebreaker winning 3-2. That did not seem to faze SorryMSJackson2 as he was took his first chance in the 2nd minute to slot one home. Familyjulezzz equalized in the 31st minute, entering halftime 1-1. SorryMsJackson2 looked like a man on a mission scoring early again after the break in the 50th minute, then 64th and 86th minute to put his previous defeat past him and advance 4-1.
First Semifinal match of the night, it was the battle of two undefeated teams #3 MrOxyClean03 (16-0-3) against #2 BrickSquaadPOW (16-0-3). On paper the matchup seemed way to close to call, how MrOXyClean03 powered his way to some early goals entering halftime at 5-0. It kept getting worse as quickly made it 7-0 shortly after. BricksquaaadPOW managed to grab 2 goals back but ultimately the match ended 9-2.
The final spot in the finals went to FRIENDBEN10. The match seemed close in the early moments of the first half with each squad getting chances to score. Ultimately FRIENDBEN10 began getting the better end of the match up winning by a 5-2 margin over SorryMsJackson2.
Looking towards the playoffs we have 1st place of Xbox Expert Gold league against 1st in Xbox Expert Blue league. MrOxyClean03 will look continue his impressive run of form to keep his unbeaten streak alive, while FRIENDBEN10 despite his one loss is goal scoring machine with 115 goals in the regular season. Both finalists will feel they have what it takes to become the Xbox Champions for Series 2.
