The Philadelphia Union were the first team in the MLS is Back Tournament to earn their spot in the Semifinals and over night learned they'd be facing the Portland Timbers
The Union will face off against the Western Conference foe after defeating Sporting Kansas City 3-1 while the Timbers knocked out New York City FC by a 3-1 margin.
In Group Stage play the Union claimed seven points in their three matches of the group stage with wins over New York City FC and Inter Miami before a 1-1 draw with Orlando City SC. Meanwhile Portland topped Group F with seven points after defeating LA Galaxy and the Houston Dynamo while drawing LAFC. Their knockout results saw them advance past FC Cincinnati in penalties before sending NYCFC home Saturday night.
The MLS is Back Tournament Knockout match presented by Audi will see the two sides battle it out on Wednesday, August 5th and will be broadcast on FS1 and TUDN. Kick off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
