Philadelphia Union Union are unbeaten in the MLS regular season since dropping the first contest of the season and look to continue that streak as they play host to rival D.C. United on Saturday, August 29th at 7:30 p.m. on both PHL17 and PhiladelphiaUnion.com.
The Boys in Blue find themselves sitting in third place (3-1-3) in the Eastern Conference standings with 12 points after knocking off New York Red Bulls earlier in the week. “Philadelphia Union are back and they’re still really good,” the Philadelphia Inquirer stated in an article following Tuesday’s match against the Red Bulls. Mark Mckenzie and Andre Blake each had another solid performance as Philly recorded their second-consecutive clean sheet and third shutout of the regular season.
Forward Kacper Przybylko had a great game with the only goal of the match in the 31st minute but also had a game saving goal-line clearance just before the halftime whistle.
Both the Union and DC have not been high scoring teams thus far, but the difference is in Philly’s defense. Paired with brick wall Andre Blake and the flexibility Coach Curtin has at the center back position leads the Union to have one of the best backlines in the league.
D.C. United is off to a rocky start over their first seven regular season matches along with recent struggles against the Philadelphia. Their last win against the Union came way back on April 1, 2017. DC has just seven goals in so far this season and going against one of the top goalkeepers and defense in the league, the Union have a good chance at recording their third shutout in a row.

Kacper Przybylko: After having a big game against NYRB, Kacper may have got the confidence boost he needs to get back to his 2019 goal scoring ways. He will also look to continue to create chances and opportunities for his teammates up front.
Federico Higuain: The MLS veteran is showing signs of becoming DC’s super sub by making waves and creating opportunities almost immediately after stepping on the pitch.
