Philadelphia Union II continued play in MLS NEXT Pro with a 3 (4)-3 (3) victory in penalties against Inter Miami CF II on Tuesday night at DRV PNK Stadium. Union II opened up the scoring in the second minute of first-half stoppage time with Homegrown midfielder Paxten Aaronson scoring on a corner kick, assisted by fellow-homegrown Brandan Craig. Aaronson then drew a foul in the penalty area in the 66th minute, leading to a Jack McGlynn panenka-style penalty kick goal. Brandan Craig recorded his second assist of the match on a Boubacar Diallo goal in the 88th minute. The game was decided in a penalty-kick shootout, where Goalkeeper Matt Freese stopped Inter Miami CF II’s fifth penalty, setting up Cole Turner for the game-winning penalty. Union II remain unbeaten in MLS NEXT Pro play.
