Philadelphia Union II played New York City FC II to a 1-1 draw on MLS NEXT Pro Decision Day on Sunday afternoon at Kinetic Field at WSFS Bank Sportsplex.
New York City FC II opened the scoring late in the first half, as Drew Kerr found the back of the net in the 43rd minute off an assist from Adonis Campos. Union II responded after the break, with midfielder Kellan LeBlanc scoring on a free kick from outside the box in the 52nd minute to bring the match level.
Goalkeeper Andrew Rick delivered a strong performance in net, recording 10 saves to help keep Union II in the match. Philadelphia played the final stretch down a man after Geiner Martinez was shown a second yellow card in the 81st minute, but Union II held firm through regulation to send the match to a post-regulation shootout.
New York City FC II earned the extra point in the shootout, winning 2-1 after the 1-1 draw.
