Philadelphia Union II’s Kleberson To Join New York City FC As Assistant Coach

Philadelphia Union II today announced that Assistant Coach, Jose Kléberson, has come to an agreement with New York City FC to become their new assistant coach. Kléberson, who has been an assistant coach with the Union II since March 2022, will join NYCFC as their assistant coach effective immediately.

Kléberson previously served as head coach for the Philadelphia Union Academy teams from 2017-2021. Over the course of his time with the Union, Kléberson proved to be essential to the development of young players and led the Union’s youth teams to international and domestic success, notably winning the Generation Adidas Cup in 2019.

Prior to his coaching career, Kléberson played professionally for 17 years. In 2002 he was a pivotal player on the Brazil team that won their fifth World Cup and in 2003 he joined the Premier League with Manchester United. He then played professionally in Istanbul, Brazil, and eventually the US where he was signed as a loanee to the Philadelphia Union where he made 11 appearances and scored one goal.
