Recap | Union II see unbeaten streak end at Crew 2

Philadelphia Union II continued play in MLS NEXT Pro with a 0-2 loss against Columbus Crew SC 2 on Saturday night at Lower.com Field. With the loss, Union II stay in third place in the Eastern Conference with 34 points.

The Union faced a barrage of chances in the first half, with goalkeeper Brooks Thompson making two diving saves in the 22nd and 34th minute to keep things level. Philadelphia found their own chance in the 34th minute as defender Anthony Sorenson took a left footed shot outside the box, curling to the bottom left of the goal, but was ultimately saved by the Crew 2 keeper. Columbus would claim a goal in the 40th minute as midfielder Jake Morris sent in a shot from a tight angle to the top right of the net, he was assisted by Marco Micaletto.

In the second half, Union II midfielder Bajung Darboe was sent off in the 59th minute after he was shown his second yellow of the match.

Columbus would claim its second goal of the match in the 84th minute as forward Jacen Russell-Rowe tapped in a shot from point blank range after receiving a low driven cross from Jordan Knight.
