After their 5-0 win on Sunday, Philadelphia Union II earned MLS NEXT Pro Team of the Matchweek honors, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Led by MLS NEXT Pro Coach of the Month's Ryan Richter, the Boys in Blue extended their unbeaten form to six games with a resounding performance against Toronto FC II.
The match showcased the entire pipeline of the Union organization first players Markus Anderson, David Vazquez and CJ Olney finding the back of the net while Academy turned professionals Malik Jakupovic and Willyam Ferreira shined late. Jakupovic scored a brace in second-half stoppage time to push his 2025 goal total to three games in just 30 minutes while Ferreira notched his first professional assist in just his second MLS NEXT Pro match.
With the win on Sunday, Union II currently sits in second place in the Eastern Conference with seven wins, six draws and just one loss at the halfway point of their 2025 campaign. The squad own the best points per game in the East and have two games in hand on rivals New York Red Bulls II as they continue their quest to retain their Eastern Conference Championship.
Philadelphia Union II looks to conclude its season-long four-game home stand with another victory as they host its season-long five-game home stand back in action next week when they host Chattanooga FC on Sunday, July 13th.
