Academy amateur Matheus De Paula scored for the second straight match but it wasn't enough as Philadelphia Union II fell to Toronto FC II by a 2-1 margin on Friday night.
Toronto FC II opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Fletcher Bank found the back of the net off an assist from Campbell-Dennis, giving the home side a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Toronto doubled their advantage shortly after the break, with Tristan Blyth scoring in the 51st minute, again assisted by Campbell-Dennis, to make it 2-0.
Union II responded in the 61st minute through Academy midfielder Matheus De Paula, who delivered a standout strike from well outside the box to cut the deficit in half. The goal gave Philadelphia a push in the final stretch of the match as Union II searched for a late equalizer.
Despite the second-half response, Union II could not find another breakthrough before the final whistle, falling 2-1 on the road.
Philadelphia Union II will travel to the Sportsplex at Matthews to face Crown Legacy on Friday, June 5th at 7:00 p.m. ET, with the match available to watch on OneFootball.
