Tlalpan, Mexico City (August 12, 2021) – The Philadelphia Union lost to Club America 2-0 in the first leg of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League semi-final round on Thursday night at Estadio Azteca. The opening goal of the semi-final went to Club America with a goal from Richard Sanchez in the 17th minute. The Union did their best to get back in the game, totaling four shots before halftime. In the second half, Club America was awarded a penalty kick. Emanuel Aguilera scored from the spot in the 80th minute to double Club America’s lead. With the loss, the Union are left with work to do in the second leg of semi-finals when they return home to Subaru Park on September 15.

The Union will be back home for MLS play on August 18th where they will face New York City FC (7:30 p.m. ET / PHL17).
