Cisse secures spot at eMLS Cup

Philadelphia Union esports competitor CisseSZN secured his spot into the eMLS Cup presented by Coca-Cola on Tuesday night, grabbing the No. 7 overall seed for eMLS's biggest event.

The tournament that will take place March 20-21 beginning at 3 p.m. ET and will mark the first time in Cisse's career he's advanced to the Knockout Round of the event having fallen previously in the Last Chance Qualifying rounds.

Cisse's path to eMLS Cup began with a strong performance at eMLS League Series One where he racked up the most goals in regular season play to grab the No. 4 seed but fell in the Quarterfinals to the eventual winner. In the latest tournament, the competition increased with victories carrying even more weight. While Cisse only dropped three of his 12 matches, the five draws saw him outside the Top 8 for the KO rounds.

Two of those draws came in the final night of eMLS League Series Two presented by Coca-Cola as the 23-year-old concluded the online-qualifiers with a win, two draws and a loss. After starting out with a loss to Minnesota United, Cisse grabbed a two-goal lead over defending eMLS Cup Champion Adamou however the champ battled back with two late goals to split the points. Cisse rebounded with a resounding performance against Atlanta United via a 3-1 margin but had to settle for a 2-2 draw in the finale against the LA Galaxy.
