GA Cup | U15s head to the Premier Bracket, U17s secure their spot in the Championship Bracket

U17s add another win to advance to the Championship Bracket

The Philadelphia Union U-17s continued to impress on Monday, defeating Vancouver Whitecaps 4-1 to advance to the Championship Bracket of Generation adidas Cup.

Vancouver struck early in the second minute taking a 1-0 lead, but the Boys in Blue responded just as quickly with a goal of their own two minutes later by way of Kellan LeBlanc, who scored a back-heeled shot. His effort ensured the match was knotted 1-1 by halftime.

After regrouping before the second half, a Philadelphia scoring frenzy began, starting with centerback Neil Pierre who used his head to find the back of the net off a pinpoint corner kick from LeBlanc. Jamir Johnson added to their tally, blowing by defenders with some fancy footwork with about 5 minutes left for his first goal of the day. Before the final whistle, Johnson added another one, this time hitting a top bins goal to seal the 4-1 win.

During the action, the U17s had extra support on the sidelines as U15s players and staff came out to the game to cheer them on.

With the win, they’ll continue on in the Championship Bracket, taking on Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors on Wednesday, April 3rd at 5pm.
