Homegrown Cavan Sullivan named finalist for  U.S. Soccer Young Male Player of the Year

U.S. Soccer has announced the nominees for the 2025 Young Male Player of the Year award, and Philadelphia Union’s own Cavan Sullivan is up for the honor. The homegrown was named a finalist alongside Josh Wynder, Benjamin Cremaschi, Brooklyn Raines and Mathis Albert.

At the U-17 World Cup in Qatar, Sullivan played a part in four of the five U.S. goals. Sullivan provided game-winning goals in the team’s first two matches against Burkina Faso and Tajikistan, respectively. He also added assists against Tajikistan and Morocco in the Round of 32.

During his time with the Union, Sullivan made 11 appearances and became the youngest starter in club history when he was on the pitch at the opening whistle against Nashville SC on July 5th. In addition to his time with the first team, Sullivan scored six goals and added fix assists with Union II during 14 matches in MLS NEXT Pro.

Voting is now open and concludes on Friday, Dec. 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The winners will be announced in January 2025.
