Hometown Hero: Clark Deardorff

The Philadelphia Union are pleased to announce that the hometown hero for Saturday night's match against Portland Timbers will be in honor of Clark Deardorff.

Clark was a friend to many in the Harleysville/Souderton community. He was a friend to many, serving as a volunteer coach for his son’s baseball team.

In June 2017, he fell into a coma for over 70 days, waking up to find that he had lost his arms and legs to sepsis. Clark worked tirelessly to learn how to use his new prosthetic limbs, eventually making his way back to the fields the following spring.

Clark unexpectedly passed away in September 2018, but his legacy lives on. The #IronDad23 Foundation was formed last year to continue Clark’s dream of sponsoring youth sport leagues, helping local student athletes as well as families in need and providing assistance and opportunities to students in Souderton Area schools.
