Match Recap | Philadelphia Union 1, New York Red Bulls 0

CHESTER, Pa. (May 15, 2021) – The Philadelphia Union took on rival New York Red Bulls at Subaru Park on Saturday, May 15. With the win, the Union earned three crucial points and their first home win in the early MLS regular season. It was the first attempt on net for the Union that would open the scoring. In the ninth minute, midfielder Jamiro Monterio found Cory Burke for his second goal of the regular season. The match would slow down a little after the goal, but it was the Union who continued to put the pressure on with a few more chances before halftime. The Union created many of the scoring chances in the second half but didn’t see them hit the back of the net. Although the match would get chippy in the final minutes, key saves and a strong defensive effort would be enough to complete the shutout win, giving Andre Blake his third clean sheet of the regular season.

The Union are away at Audi Field on Saturday, May 23, where they will face D.C. United. (7:00 p.m. ET / PH17).
