Philadelphia Union are officially headed back to the postseason.

The Boys in Blue secured a spot in the Audi 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs on Wednesday night following Red Bull New York’s loss to the New England Revolution, marking the club’s 10th postseason appearance in club history and eighth in the last nine seasons.

Philadelphia entered Wednesday night on the verge of securing its postseason place following a remarkable second-half climb up the Eastern Conference table. In a fitting twist, Dániel Gazdag, former Union midfielder and the club's all-time leading scorer, scored the late game-winner for the Revolution as they defeated Red Bull New York.

The playoff berth continues an impressive second half of the season for Philadelphia, which surged up the Eastern Conference standings following the FIFA World Cup break under Interim Head Coach Ryan Richter.

With their postseason place secured, the Union will now turn their attention toward positioning in the Eastern Conference table. Following Wednesday’s trip to Nashville SC, Philadelphia has two regular-season matches remaining, beginning with a road clash against FC Cincinnati on Saturday, October 31 before returning to Subaru Park to host Toronto FC on Decision Day on Saturday, November 7.

Audi 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs Format

A total of 18 clubs will qualify for the postseason – the top nine from each conference. Seeds 1–7 earn automatic entry into the Round One Best-of-3 Series, while seeds 8–9 face off in a single-match Wild Card. The 2026 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs begin in mid November, with the MLS Cup Final scheduled for December 18.

Decision Day 2026 (Saturday, November 7)

The regular season concludes with Decision Day with all 30 clubs in action. Eastern Conference teams play at 4 pm ET, then Western Conference teams play at 7 pm ET. The sole cross-conference game is at 4 pm ET between CF Montréal and Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Four rounds follow the Wild Card Matches, ending with MLS Cup presented by Audi on December 18 (hosting rights awarded to the finalist with the best regular-season record).
