On February 28, 2008, Philadelphia Union became the 16th Major League Soccer franchise. The announcement came after a huge fan-driven push to bring soccer to the City of Brotherly Love. And since it arrived, the strength of the relationship between the game and city has been consistently strong. The team's first star, Sebastien Le Toux, immediately feel for Philadelphia and has remained in town ever since. Traditions sprung forth: The #DOOP song, Zolos, the boisterous singing from the River End of the stadium -- all the soccer-related energy that had lain dormant for years burst forth and was showered upon players that were hungry for success.
Now, in their 10th season, the Union are committed to a style of play that puts the team before the individual and seeks to bring the fan into the game with a lung-bursting style of play that takes the energy in the stadium and channels it into on-field success. Because for the Union to be successful on the field this season, they will need the fanbase pushing them on. When Talen Energy Stadium is loud and every play is met with a roar, the players lock in. That is when they know they're playing for something more, and when they find that extra burst of energy or skill that lets them make the crucial, game-winning play.
So on this, the Union's 10th birthday, get ready to make your way to the stadium on March 2. MLS is back. The Union are back. And the 10th season needs your voice to make it special.
