Philadelphia Union secured their third straight win on Saturday night by way of a second-half comeback at Subaru Park, and three players involved in the action earned Major League Soccer Team of the Matchday honors for their contributions.
The Boys in Blue were down 2-0, despite playing up a man after Atlanta United’s Enea Mihaj was sent off in the 27th minute, until Milan Iloski got one back for the Union in the 73rd.
With less than 30 minutes of regular time remaining, the team pushed for an equalizer, but didn’t find it until six minutes into stoppage when Kai Wagner found the head of Neil Pierre to make it 2-2. One minute later, Wagner’s left foot proved lethal once again, this time sending a ball in to find the foot of Ezekiel Alladoh, who turned, shot, and scored his first MLS goal for the game-winner.Â
On Monday afternoon, Iloski, Wagner, and Pierre, all appeared on the league’s Team of the Matchday, creating the most representation out of all teams in MLS.
Kai Wagner's comeback tour continues
Just over two weeks after Wagner landed in Philadelphia and re-signed with the Union after a seven-month transfer to Birmingham City in the English Championship, Wagner continued to prove his importance to the club, sparking the comeback with a deflected near-assist to Iloski that opened scoring for the Union, then officially assisted both Pierre’s equalizer and Alladoh’s game-winner.
Milan Iloski makes Union history
Milan Iloski’s 73rd-minute goal marked his 10th of the season, his third since the Union returned to play following the World Cup break, and his eighth over the last six games. When he hit the back of the net, he not only kickstarted the team’s rally, but also made Union history, setting the record for the longest ever scoring streak, with goals in six consecutive games. The honor comes two days shy of the one-year anniversary of his signing - he joined the club on August 5th, 2025 from San Diego FC.
Neil Pierre earns first-ever league honor
Neil Pierre has played three straight games for the Union, making a head-turning return from loan in Denmark, where he spent five months with Lyngby Boldklub. Since rejoining the first team in Philly, Pierre, standing at 6-foot-seven and still growing, has played 214 minutes, scored his first and second MLS goals, and tallied his first assist. His appearance on the latest Team of the Matchday marks his first.
