Missed opportunities in the opening 45 minutes and a slow second half saw the USMNT fall to Mexico in the Concacaf Gold Cup, 1-0.

The U.S. came out strong with Christian Pulisic seeing a shot saved from the corner early in the contest. Moments later, Jozy Altidore beat the his final Mexico defender and showed down with the opposing goalkeeper but fired his shot wide.

The match was a traditional US/Mexico rivalry contest with tensions taking place on the pitch with multiple stoppages and fouls. In the end, LA Galaxy's Jonathan dos Santos scored the game-winner, converting a one-timer into the top corner in the 73rd minute.

The victory gives El Tri their all-time leading 8th Gold Cup triumph and first since 2015.
