Jim Curtin's growth and maturity featured in The Athletic

Jim Curtin

Sitting one point out of first place in the Eastern Conference, Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtin has enjoyed a lot of positives in 2019. But this is Philadelphia and you'll still hear boos from the stands as Pablo Maurer writes in his latest story on The Athletic.

"It wouldn’t be Philadelphia if you weren’t hearing boos," Curtin says in the piece. "Every other coach in our town has been booed. Doug Pederson got booed a year after winning a Super Bowl. Brett Brown with the Sixers has had some hard times."

The third-longest tenured coach in Major League Soccer, Curtin has had his share of ups and downs, from leading the team to the postseason twice but also losses in three U.S. Open Cup finals. From it all, Curtin has not only grown but it's provided a foundation of maturity that has shown in 2019.
