Union at D.C. United Starting XI and Lineup Notes for U.S. Open Cup presented by ACME

Philadelphia Union begins its journey in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as it travels to rival D.C. United at Audi Field. Kick off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET can be viewed live on ESPN+. Below are the starting lineup and notes.


STARTING XI
Matt Freese; Olivier Mbaizo, Mark McKenzie, Aurelien Collin, Fabinho; Haris Medunjanin, Alejandro Bedoya; Ilsinho, Jamiro Monteiro, Fafa Picault; Sergio Santos.

NOTES

  • For the second time this season, the Union will start in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
  • Matt Freese makes his third start for the Union in goal.
  • Defenders Mark McKenzie and Fabinho make their 2019 Union debuts.
  • Olivier Mbaizo makes his third start of the year, first since May 1st against FC Cincinnati where he had an assist on the game-winning goal.
  • Midfielder Jamiro Monteiro ges a start in his first Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup contest
  • Sergio Santos also makes his Open Cup debut as a starter and his third straight (fifth overall).
  • Three members (Ben Ofeimu, Issa Rayyan and Zach Zandi) of Bethlehem Steel FC make the gameday 18. All three are products of the Philadelphia Union Academy.
