The Philadelphia Union Foundation always knew it had a strong leader in former chairman Mike Curry, and now United Soccer Coaches has affirmed that truth by naming Curry its 2019 Honor Award recipient.
Curry will receive the award on January 17, 2020 at the USC Convention in Baltimore, MD.
"I am truly grateful and honored to receive the Honor Award. I am fortunate to work with so many terrific people who love the game of soccer as much as I do,” said Curry. "Their advocacy, support and guidance over the years has helped me to give back to this beautiful game that has given me so much. I share the accolades of this award with my soccer family and all who have supported me."
As both a coach and an administrator, Curry has remained active in US Soccer for his entire career. He remains on the USC foundation committee and on the NSCAA Board of Governors to this day and previously chaired the NSCAA Board of Directors.
Although Curry is no longer the chair of the Philadelphia Union Foundation, he remains an active member of the board and of the Union family. Under his guidance, PUF sought to make food more accessible in Chester, Pennsylvania and worked with local leaders and the Boys and Girls' Club to bring positive change to the daily lives of people throughout the community in which the Union operate.
The Union are incredibly proud of the work Curry has done with PUF for many years, and glad that United Soccer Coaches has chosen to present him with such a prestigious award.
