MONTCLAIR, Nj. (September 26, 2020) – The Philadelphia Union II took on New York Red Bulls II Saturday night where they fell 5-4 on the road. Red Bulls II opened the scoring early with a brace from Omar Sowe in the first 19 minutes of the match. The Union II got one back with a penalty by Jack McGlynn just before half. Axel Picazo tied it up 10 minutes into the second half, but Red Bulls II responded with their third goal 10 minutes later. Matt Freese kept the Union II in the game tonight with a total of eight saves but wasn’t enough to get a result. Union II will be home this Wednesday, September 30th vs. Hartford Athletic at Subaru Park, (7:30 p.m. ET /ESPN+).

  • Danny Flores scored his first USL Championship goal for the Union II tonight. Flores becomes the eight members from the Philadelphia Union Academy to score for Union II this season, a single season record.
  • Jack McGlynn’s brace tied the Union II’s single’s game scoring record with two goals tonight. It’s the 12th time in club history that a player has netted a brace and the first since Issa Rayyan (July 10, 2019) against New York Red Bulls II.
  • Caden Stafford tied the single-game assists record with two. The Union Academy forward is the eighth player to do so with the most previous occurrence coming via Zach Zandi on June 15, 2019 against Saint Louis FC.
