Well, well, well, New England Revolution… we will meet again for the sixth time this season. This time though, it will mean so much more as the stakes are risen for the 2020 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. Philadelphia Union will match up against once more with the Revolution in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday, November 24th at 8PM on ESPN.

The Union enter the contest rested after winning the Supporters’ Shield for the first time in team history and are the top overall seed in the postseason. Sporting a record of 14-5-4, the Boys in Blue bring confidence to their third playoff appearance in four years.

With team success also comes individual end of season awards. Andre Blake won Goalkeeper of the Year, Jim Curtin took home Coach of the Year, and three guys were awarded spots on the MLS Best XI: Mark McKenzie, Brenden Aaronson, and Andre Blake.

The two teams are very familiar with each other having met five times already this season. The Union have taken ten of twelve points in the regular season meetings along with sending the Revs home after defeating them in the MLS is Back Tournament. The several matchups may eventually lead to the Revs figuring out the Union’s strategy and causing panic and struggles. However, Bruce Arena acknowledged the fact that the Union have been the better team throughout the season and that the Revs had an immense impact on the Union’s success. After defeating the Montreal Impact in the play-in game on Friday, Arena said, “I think when we arrive in Philadelphia they’’re going to give us the Supporters’s Shield because we earned it for them.”
