With the holiday season upon us, Philadelphia Union staff partnered with CityTeam Chester to help bring the holidays to families in the Chester community.
The Union assisted with CityTeam’s Turning Point project to provide each family with a tree and trimmings to decorate, some special treats and toys specifically purchased for each child. The CityTeam Turning Point program is a transitional housing program that took off last year with the purchase of houses in the area that would provide a bridge to independent living for young women 18-24 years old. The 12-month residential program offers a safe, compassionate living community where families develop life skills for a successful and independent living with workshops and coaching for employment and budgeting.
“These young mom's will not only be relieved of the financial, housing and food insecurity because of the Philadelphia Union they won't have to worry about providing Christmas for their little ones,” CityTeam Director of Development Nancy Craskey said. “CityTeam is so honored and humbled to have a partner right here in the community who understands our desire to serve our families with dignity and respect and truly wants to serve families right here in Chester."
