Philadelphia Union, the 2020 Supporters' Shield winners, know who their first opponent of the 2021 campaign will be as the club was drawn to face Deportivo Saprissa in the Round of 16 for the 2021 Concacaf Champions League.

The Boys in Blue were drawn in the A5 position using a double-blind system and four pots. The two sides are slated to face off in April as the Union make their debut in the Concacaf tournament after earning their spot via the Supporters' Shield given to the club that earns the most points in MLS regular season play.

Currently sitting in 5th place in Costa Rica's Liga FPD, they qualified for the 2021 Concacaf Champions League via being a semifinalist on Concacaf Leauge. Their appearance in 2021 is their 10th appearance overall with a record 17-16-11 in prior CCL matches.

The dates for the Union's two legs in the Round of 16 along with the 2021 MLS regular season schedule in the coming weeks.
