Post-Match Quote Sheet
Bethlehem Steel FC at Ottawa Fury FC | October 12, 2019 – TD Place Stadium, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Bethlehem Steel FC
Head Coach Brendan Burke
On his thoughts on today’s match . . .

I’m really happy with the result and that’s what we talked about before the game, standing up for themselves in the difficult situation that we’ve found ourselves in. I’m really happy for them and a lot of them progressed as men today.

On Faris’ performance against Ottawa Fury FC . . .

I thought he should have scored three or four times today. I thought he did a great job of being dangerous, putting himself in dangerous situations. The next step is to bury one or two more of those and you could have a star on your hands.

On Axel Picazo’s performance today . . .

Axel was great. We said it to the boys in the pre-game meeting, we said Axel more than anyone over the last week of training and with his performances recently deserves to start and that’s why he got the start. He rewarded us again and has really turned the corner.

Forward Faris
On his thoughts on today’s match . . .

It was a long game. I think that we fought the way that we should, 1-1 at the end of the game and we go back with one point. It’s always a pleasure to get a point away from home.

On his goal against Ottawa Fury FC . . .

I was frustrated at the beginning of the game, but while the game was still going on, I always tried to give my best and try to get to 10 goals. It’s not easy to do against a team like Ottawa [Fury FC], good opponent and good players. Getting 10 goals this season is huge for me, since last season I only had three goals.

On the mentality of his team to fight back to 1-1 in this match . . .

At halftime we just talked to each other and said “hey guys, we have to go back out and do our jobs, we have to show that we want something. We have to show something for our families and our friends”. Everything was good for us in the second half when we did that.

Midfielder Axel Picazo
On his thoughts on today’s match . . .

It was a long game, but I thought we did well in defending. I think we defended as a team and that helped us pick up a point on the road, so that’s always good.

On the connection between the midfield and the forwards in the second half . . .

I think it’s important to have that connection between the midfielders and the forwards because that’s how you create goals. I’m happy that I had that assist and it was a good result for us.

On his assist on Faris’ goal . . .

I just saw that he wanted the ball and got it to him. He put his mind to it and we knew that he was going to score today, it was only a matter of time until he got the goal.
