Philadelphia Union II brings momentum north of the border as they face off against Toronto FC II under the Friday night lights.
Union II is coming off a resounding 4-1 victory over Carolina Core FC on Sunday afternoon at Subaru Park which earned the club MLS NEXT Pro Team of the Matchweek honors for the first time in 2026.
Facing a side that was on average four years older per player, Union II rose to the occasion to seize the control of the contest. Forward Malik Jakupovic jump started the rout, with a highlight-reel finish in the 20th minute to spark the comeback.
Stas Korzeniowski followed with a quick-fire brace, scoring twice in a five-minute span to turn momentum fully in favor of the hosts and give Union II a three-goal cushion heading into halftime.
Academy amateur Tyler Gladstone added a highlight of his own in his league debut, notching the assist on team captain Rafael Uzcátegui's headed corner kick chance to cap off a commanding performance.
Friday's match will be the second showdown of 2026 with Union II nabbing a 1-0 victory in the league opener on February 28th. Homegrown forward Malik Jakupovic provided the lone goal of the game with a smooth finish in the eighth minute while Philly's defense limited the Canadian side to only three shots on target.
TFCII has started off the season slowly with just one win in their first five contests of the league season which as them in 12th place in the Eastern Conference. After starting the season with back-to-back scoreless efforts, Toronto has come alive with 10 goals in their last three games which includes a 5-0 rout of New York City FC II at the end of March. Toronto is coming off another strong effort as they pushed first place Crown Legacy FC to a penalty shootout where they came up short in their pursuit of a second point.
Kick off from York Lions Stadium is set for 7PM on Friday night with coverage on OneFootball and MLSNEXTPro.com.
