GA Cup Day 2

U15s pick up victory against FC Dallas

Philadelphia Union Academy’s U-15 continued its unbeaten form at GA Cup with a resounding 2-0 victory over FC Dallas on Sunday morning.

The matchup featuring two of the most prestigious MLS academies was a tight battle with the Group I contest in a scoreless deadlock after the first 30-minute half. Both teams sought to put their contrasting styles as the dominant one that ended up canceling each other out in the first period with neither side able to generate a scoring chance.

That changed in the second half as Willyam Ferreira converted from the penalty spot to put the Union ahead early in the second half. The Union didn't sit back after the goal and added to their lead 18 minutes later as the Baby Snakes saw Malik Jakupovic score his third goal of the tournament. On the other end of the pitch, the shutout remained with a pair of big saves late to help the team continue their pursuit for a spot in the GA Cup knockout rounds.

The U15s looks to advance to the knockout rounds of GA Cup on Sunday when they take on Inter Miami CF in the group finale on Monday, April 1st at 9:30AM ET.
